Thanks to Our MPH Applied Practice StudentsWe are grateful for the hard work of the aspiring public health professionals who chose Virginia HEPC as their Applied Practice Experience location this spring! Shailyn Washington (pictured left), a fourth year Master of Public Health (MPH) student at UVA will be graduating in May and preparing for MCATs and medical school. Shailyn helped with a needs assessment by identifying and organizing information on resources for hepatitis from across the state. She identified populations disproportionately affected by access barriers and ways to reduce those barriers by making critical resources more visible and accessible. Shailyn also created an infographic about hepatitis C to share on social media (see it here). Elizabeth Wilding (pictured right), is a first year MPH student at UVA focusing on women and children infectious disease epidemiology. Liz helped with data analysis for VA HEPC by comparing external versus internal referral populations to identify trends that will guide future outreach efforts for treatment access.
