Treatment is available to everyone!

HEPC works to make sure treatment is available to Virginia residents close to where you live, at little or no cost to you. Health insurance is not required to be eligible for treatment. You can find treatment without sobriety requirements or intravenous drug use (IVDU) restrictions. If you suspect or know you have hepatitis C, follow this path to wellness.

HEPC Telehealth Treatment at Sentara

Our Infectious Disease (ID) Specialist sees patients directly through their video enabled device (smart phone, tablet, laptop), across the state through telemedicine. If you are uninsured, get a head start by applying for Medicaid and Sentara Financial Assistance.

Treatment Access Throughout Virginia

We also keep a map of clinics treating throughout the state that we can refer to if you prefer to be seen in person close to where you live. Many of these clinicians have been trained to treat hepatitis C independently through partnership with VA HEPC. Some of these clinicians do not require insurance to be seen.

95% Cure rate

Out of 100 people
who are treated, 95 will be cured

If you commit to and follow through with taking the treatment medication every day as prescribed (for 8-12 weeks), you can expect a 95% chance of cure. The medication has few reported side effects, which include nausea and headache in 10%-15% of people. Side effects are generally reported only for the first week or two of treatment.

Once you complete the treatment, you wait 12 weeks and come back for one final lab draw. This lab lets you know if the virus is completely out of your system and is important to verify you are cured.

I am very thankful for the treatment I received through telemedicine hepatitis treatment program. The doctor took time to listen and answer all my questions. The nurses were amazing and helped work with me to make sure I got into the program and completed it
