 What to expect if I need treatment for HCV?

You can expect the following when you need treatment for HCV:

  • Lab work to check on your kidneys and liver and the amount of hepatitis C virus in your blood

  • An appointment with a provider to review your medical history, medications, and treatment

  • Provider and their staff will work with a specialty or retail pharmacy and either your insurance, Medicaid, or a pharmaceutical company to get the medication approved and mailed to you.

  • Your medication may come in a 3-pill blister pack. Be sure to follow your doctor’s instructions and take the medication every day as prescribed.
